About the Role
HP is hiring a Senior Security Software Developer (R&D) to join their team in a on-site capacity. More jobs at HP and this is a senior-level position for an experienced engineer who can drive technical decisions and mentor others on the team. If you’re looking to grow your career with a team that invests in its engineers, this could be a great next step.
Joining HP as a Security Software Engineer means working alongside experienced peers on problems that matter to the business, with the kind of scope and ownership that helps a career move forward. This is a full-time position with the stability and benefits that come with a permanent role.
Role Overview
As a senior contributor, you’ll play a key role in the team’s day-to-day engineering work. Typical responsibilities for a Security Software Engineer at the senior level include:
- design and implement secure software systems and review code for vulnerabilities
- conduct threat modeling, security testing, and risk assessments on new and existing systems
- respond to and help remediate security incidents in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- champion secure coding practices and help raise the security bar across engineering
Beyond the day-to-day, you’ll be expected to communicate clearly with teammates and stakeholders, document your work so others can build on it, and continuously look for ways to improve how the team ships software.
Requirements & Qualifications
This is a senior role, so candidates should bring deep, demonstrated expertise:
- experience with secure software development practices and vulnerability assessment
- familiarity with common security frameworks, threat modeling, and compliance requirements
- strong analytical skills and attention to detail under pressure
- relevant certifications (e.g. Security+, CISSP) are a plus but not required
Candidates who don’t check every box are still encouraged to apply — HP values demonstrated ability and growth potential alongside a resume that matches every requirement exactly.
Location & Work Setup
This role is based in United States. This is an on-site position, with the team working together in person to collaborate closely on a daily basis. Specific work arrangements and any relocation details will be confirmed during the interview process. As with any on-site role, expect regular collaboration with teammates through a mix of synchronous meetings and asynchronous updates, so strong written and verbal communication matters as much as technical skill.
