About the Role
RTX is hiring a Embedded Software Engineer I (Onsite) to join their team in a on-site capacity. More jobs at RTX and this is an entry-level opportunity well suited to recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to build a strong technical foundation. If you’re looking to grow your career with a team that invests in its engineers, this could be a great next step.
Joining RTX as a Embedded Software Engineer means working alongside experienced peers on problems that matter to the business, with the kind of scope and ownership that helps a career move forward. This is a full-time position with the stability and benefits that come with a permanent role.
Role Overview
Working closely with senior engineers and mentors, you’ll play a key role in the team’s day-to-day engineering work. Typical responsibilities for a Embedded Software Engineer at the entry level include:
- design, develop, and debug embedded software for hardware-integrated systems
- work closely with hardware and firmware teams to validate system behavior
- write low-level code with attention to performance, memory, and real-time constraints
- support testing, integration, and certification of embedded systems
Beyond the day-to-day, you’ll be expected to communicate clearly with teammates and stakeholders, document your work so others can build on it, and continuously look for ways to improve how the team ships software.
Requirements & Qualifications
This role is designed for candidates early in their career, so the emphasis is on fundamentals, curiosity, and growth potential:
- experience with embedded C/C++ development and real-time operating systems
- familiarity with hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, JTAG, or logic analyzers
- understanding of memory-constrained and performance-critical development
- experience working closely with hardware or firmware teams
Candidates who don’t check every box are still encouraged to apply — RTX values demonstrated ability and growth potential alongside a resume that matches every requirement exactly.
Location & Work Setup
This role is based in United States. This is an on-site position, with the team working together in person to collaborate closely on a daily basis. Specific work arrangements and any relocation details will be confirmed during the interview process. As with any on-site role, expect regular collaboration with teammates through a mix of synchronous meetings and asynchronous updates, so strong written and verbal communication matters as much as technical skill.
