About the Role
CIBC is hiring a Consultant, Full Stack Developer to join their team in a hybrid capacity. More jobs at CIBC and this is a role for an engineer who has a few years of hands-on experience and is ready to own meaningful pieces of the product independently. If you’re looking to grow your career with a team that invests in its engineers, this could be a great next step.
Joining CIBC as a Full-Stack Engineer means working alongside experienced peers on problems that matter to the business, with the kind of scope and ownership that helps a career move forward. This is a full-time position with the stability and benefits that come with a permanent role.
Role Overview
Working with a fair degree of independence, you’ll play a key role in the team’s day-to-day engineering work. Typical responsibilities for a Full-Stack Engineer at the mid level include:
- design and build features across both the front-end and back-end of the application
- work with product and design teams to translate requirements into shipped functionality
- write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in peer code reviews
- optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability across the stack
Beyond the day-to-day, you’ll be expected to communicate clearly with teammates and stakeholders, document your work so others can build on it, and continuously look for ways to improve how the team ships software.
Requirements & Qualifications
Ideal candidates bring solid, hands-on experience and are comfortable owning their work end to end:
- experience building production applications across front-end and back-end layers
- strong understanding of APIs, databases, and modern web frameworks
- comfort working across the stack and adapting to different parts of the codebase
- an eye for clean, maintainable, well-tested code
Candidates who don’t check every box are still encouraged to apply — CIBC values demonstrated ability and growth potential alongside a resume that matches every requirement exactly.
Location & Work Setup
This role is based in Canada. This is a hybrid position, combining in-office collaboration with the flexibility to work remotely part of the week. Specific work arrangements and any relocation details will be confirmed during the interview process. As with any hybrid role, expect regular collaboration with teammates through a mix of synchronous meetings and asynchronous updates, so strong written and verbal communication matters as much as technical skill.
