Joining Northrop Grumman as a AI / Machine Learning Engineer means working alongside experienced peers on problems that matter to the business, with the kind of scope and ownership that helps a career move forward. This is a full-time position with the stability and benefits that come with a permanent role.
Role Overview
Working with a fair degree of independence, you’ll play a key role in the team’s day-to-day engineering work. Typical responsibilities for a AI / Machine Learning Engineer at the mid level include:
- design, build, and deploy machine learning models and AI-driven features into production
- collaborate with data scientists and engineers to build scalable ML infrastructure and pipelines
- evaluate model performance and iterate based on real-world feedback and metrics
- stay current with advances in AI/ML and bring practical applications back to the team
Beyond the day-to-day, you’ll be expected to communicate clearly with teammates and stakeholders, document your work so others can build on it, and continuously look for ways to improve how the team ships software.
Requirements & Qualifications
Ideal candidates bring solid, hands-on experience and are comfortable owning their work end to end:
- experience building and deploying machine learning models in production environments
- strong foundation in Python and common ML/AI frameworks
- understanding of the full ML lifecycle, from data prep through monitoring
- curiosity about applied AI and a track record of shipping real features
- hands-on experience with Chandler, AI
Candidates who don’t check every box are still encouraged to apply — Northrop Grumman values demonstrated ability and growth potential alongside a resume that matches every requirement exactly.
Location & Work Setup
This role is based in United States. This is an on-site position, with the team working together in person to collaborate closely on a daily basis. Specific work arrangements and any relocation details will be confirmed during the interview process. As with any on-site role, expect regular collaboration with teammates through a mix of synchronous meetings and asynchronous updates, so strong written and verbal communication matters as much as technical skill.
